Historia de la Planta

Chrysanthemum morifolium, also known as chrysanthemum, florist's daisy, hardy garden mum, or mum, is an herbaceous flowering plant native to China. The name Chrysanthemum comes from the Greek words “chrysos” or “khrysos” and “anthemon”, meaning gold and flower, respectively. Chrysanthemum has been cultivated and used for medicinal purposes for over 2000 years. In herbal medicine, chrysanthemum has been used for cold, fever, migraine, eye irritation, and inflammation.

Chrysanthemum flowers are a source of various phenolic compounds. Flavonoids such as luteolin derivatives, diosmetin derivatives, and acacetin derivatives, as well as phenolic acids such as chlorogenic acid and caffeoylquinic acid derivatives were identified in C. morifolium flowers. C. morifolium flower extracts also showed anti-oxidant activities by DPPH, superoxide radical scavenging, lipid peroxidation inhibition, and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) assays.
