Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) is an evergreen fruit tree growing in tropical areas. The sweet and juicy fruit of mangosteen, which is often called the “queen of fruits” is surrounded by an inedible, deep reddish-purple rind. Its fruit and rind have been traditionally used for medicinal purposes to treat infections and wounds, also to relieve eczema and other skin disorders. Cleansteen-ANB is an extract of mangosteen peel showing anti-oxidant activities by scavenging free radicals and by inhibiting intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation. This product also shows strong anti-microbial activities by inhibiting the growth of Cutibacterium acnes (C. acnes) that causes acne on the skin and the growth of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) that causes skin infections.
