The daisy flower (Bellis perennis) is a perennial herbaceous plant native to Europe. They typically bloom early to mid-summer and are habitually found colonizing wide grasslands and lawns, hence its informal name the “lawn daisy”. According to Celtic legend, the flowers symbolize innocence and purity. The daisy flower contains various phenolic compounds, which has made it a popular herbal remedy dating back to the 16th century. Daisylight-ANB shows anti-oxidant activities when analyzed by DPPH and FRAP assays, while inhibiting nitric oxide (NO) synthesis and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) expression as an anti-inflammatory. Anti-photoaging effects were also expressed by inhibiting the production of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) induced by UVA and UVB radiation.
